No one can stop local body polls: Nepal PM

Vastavam web: Prime Minister Prachanda today appealed to all parties and people in Nepal to participate in the May 14local polls, saying elections are inevitable for institutionalising the rights achieved through a long struggle of the people.Addressing the district convention of Young Communist League and ANFFSU (Revolutionary), the sister organisations of his party CPN (Maoist Centre), he said, “No force can stop the local elections from taking place.” “Elections are inevitable for institutionalising the rights achieved through a long struggle of the people, he said.
“Some friends do not want the elections for fear of losing in it. The people themselves will answer those who come out to oppose elections at any pretext,” said Prachanda, who is also the Chairman of the CPN (Maoist Centre).The Prime Minister also expressed dismay over the rejection of the second constitutional amendment proposal registered at the Parliament, which he claimed, was introduced as per an understanding reached with the agitating Madhesi parties.Madhesi parties have warned the government that they would disrupt the local elections if their demands, including proportional representation in Parliament, are not addressed.
